Interactive Map
Project Overview
This project visualizes and analyzes wildfire-affected areas in Algeria during the 2021 fire season. The application allows interactive exploration of Sentinel-2 imagery before and after fire events, the false color composite highlights vegetation changes and burn impacts after the fire.
Study Area
Tizi Ouzou state, Algeria, with a focus on wildfire affected regions during the summer of 2021.
Data Source
Copernicus Sentinel-2 Level-2A (surface reflectance), accessed via Google Earth Engine.
Platform
Google Earth Engine for cloud-based processing, visualization, and interactive mapping.
Methods
The workflow includes spatial and temporal filtering over the study area, cloud-masked Sentinel-2 imagery selection, and visual interpretation of vegetation changes using false-color composites. This application demonstrates how Earth observation data can support wildfire monitoring and environmental assessment.
